William Hill will be the subject of a day of action across England by trade union Unite on Friday in protest against pay cuts resulting from the bookmakers' overhaul of their retail business.

Some betting shop managers and deputy managers are facing reductions in pay as part of the restructure, with Hills consulting on proposals to replace the roles with that of customer experience manager and assistant.

The union claimed the pay of those affected will be cut by £6,000 a year on average.
