Two-year-old challenge for this season's Nunthorpe needs taking seriously

With two-year-olds receiving considerable weight allowances in the Nunthorpe, the Group 1 sprint offers a great opportunity for talented youngsters to defeat their elders, although you have to go back to 2007 and Kingsgate Native to find the last juvenile winner of the race.

Last year's winner Battaash sets a daunting standard, but if ever there was a season for another two-year-old to claim the Group 1 sprint, then it could well be this one.

Wesley Ward earmarked the race for Golden Pal after his narrow defeat to The Lir Jet in the Norfolk Stakes, and the form of that race has been well advertised since.
