Treasure hunt will resume in 2018 reveals Snowden

BetVictor Gold Cup seventh Double Treasure is set for a break before attempting to resume winning ways in the spring.

He was bidding for his fifth victory in a row when beaten around 23 lengths behind Splash Of Ginge at Cheltenham, where the soft ground counted against him.

"It rained and he didn't appreciate that," said trainer Jamie Snowden.

"He will have a break now and come back in the spring, when he could step up in trip.

"He will get three miles and could go for the Ultima Handicap Chase at Cheltenham. And he might be a horse for the Scottish Grand National."

Double Treasure had won chases at Chepstow, Newton Abbot, Worcester and Cheltenham prior to the BetVictor and his BHA rating rose 3st from 108 to 150 in the process.
