There was a notable hat-trick to celebrate five hours before racing at Southwell on Tuesday as an "amazing team effort" ensured the track made it three from three during the cold snap.

Not only did Southwell's Flat meetings on Friday and Tuesday beat temperatures that dipped to -3.5C but the track also staged a jumps card on Sunday – which was the only turf meeting to take place in Britain in the last four days, with none due to be staged until at least Thursday.

It has been quite a start for newly qualified clerk of the course David Attwood, who only took the reins in the second week of November.
