Tote terminate co-mingling contracts with South Africa

The relationship between the UK Tote and South African operator Phumelela that allowed customers in both countries to bet into each other's pools may have come to an acrimonious end.

The Tote have terminated co-mingling contracts, although talks are due to take place in an attempt to remedy the situation.

Around £30 million of the Tote's revenues, which are forecast to pass the £500m mark this year, are understood to come from South Africa per annum, and the move is likely to hit the income of GBI Racing, the joint venture between Racing UK and At The Races that holds the media rights to UK and Irish racing in the international betting market.
