Tote punters frustrated as bet placement fails

Punters were unable to place Tote bets for approximately an hour yesterday afternoon due to a technical issue with the bet placement system.

The timing meant that popular bets like the Placepot and Scoop6 were not affected, but the downtime on a busy Saturday afternoon will have been a major blow for Totepool, particularly as owners Betfred suffered heavy losses throughout the week at Goodwood due to punter-friendly results.

Mark Pearson, head of media at Betfred, said: "I've never known such a bookie-bashing at Glorious Goodwood - on the retail side of things we've had an absolute shocker."
