Top trainers happy with pre-race testing as new regime makes a smooth start

Willie Mullins and Joseph O'Brien have expressed approval with the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board's pre-race testing regime after the new strategy was implemented ahead of Wednesday's €150,000 Guinness Kerry National.

The initiative was initially rolled out last week for three Flat races at Punchestown on Tuesday after the relevant rule was amended by the IHRB.

Leading trainers Mullins and O'Brien – who were responsible for eight of the 18-strong Kerry National field – said on Thursday that they experienced no issues with the pre-race testing.
