Newmarket has strong chances across the card on Qipco Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday, including several hopefuls from the Roger Varian yard who used the Al Bahathri Polytrack for their final preparations.

Jack Mitchell put last year’s British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes winner Eshaada through her paces over a mile and afterwards reported the Shadwell Estates filly to be the best she had felt all year.

There were similar upbeat comments from Andrea Atzeni after he partnered Tyrrhenian Sea in his final impressive workout.
