Tonight's racing: three runners who could make an impact
Tonight features the best evening racing in the British Flat calendar, courtesy of Sandown's Brigadier Gerard meeting. But that's not all –there's also action at Chelmsford and Tipperary. Here are three horses to follow
The National Stakes offers the first chance of the season for juvenile colts and geldings in Britain to earn black type, and Sound And Silence has a great chance for Charlie Appleby. The trainer's juvenile team are flying. His first five, including Sound And Silence, all won and he got on the board today when Masar came from last to first at Goodwood. Frozen Angel sets a good standard judged on his Ascot win, but Sound And Silence beat him on his debut at Newmarket and that form has been working out well.
Chain Of Daisies
7.35 Sandown
So Mi Dar's absence has taken some of the lustre off the Group 3 Matchbook Brigadier Gerard Stakes, but the race is still full of talented sorts, including Chain Of Daisies. She has improved year on year and won the Group 3 Winter Hill at Windsor last August, beating this season's Gordon Richards winner Ulysses. Historically she has needed her first run, so may perhaps just need the outing tonight, but, even if she is beaten, she looks a mare to follow for the rest of the season.
Repercussion
8.00 Chelmsford
Any horse picked up from Andre Fabre's yard warrants interest, and Repercussion showed a good level of form last season as a three-year-old. He has now joined Charlie Fellowes and shaped with promise on his debut at Newmarket. He was never a factor at York but the soft ground may have been against him that day. He's worth another chance in a competitive handicap this evening, where he makes his all-weather debut.
