This evening Newcastle's all-weather card is the only show in town. Here are three to keep an eye on . . .

Montanna
3.40 Newcastle

Not many of these are as unexposed as Jedd O'Keeffe's Montanna, who is just three and yet is one from two at this course and is weighted to reverse recent course-and-distance placings with Waiting For Richie. The return to two miles and first-time blinkers should bring about further improvement.

4.15 Newcastle

The Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum-owned two-year-old pulled too hard on debut against a race-smart rival from the Richard Hannon yard and was still only beaten half a length at Leicester last month. If a first-time hood helps him settle better he could begin to live up to his breeding as he is a New Approach half brother to Group 1 winner Ajman Princess (by Teofilo, who like New Approach is a son of Galileo).

6.15 Newcastle

Danny Tudhope goes to Newcastle for three rides, the second of which is in the 4.45, so the fact he is hanging around to partner Istanbul Pasha for David Evans – a trainer he has only ridden for eight times this year – seems a clue in itself. Simon Munir and Isaac Souede's two-tone green silks are more readily associated with jumpers but they paid €65,000 for Istanbul Pasha as a yearling.
