Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye at Dundalk

Newmarket takes centre stage on Friday, with racing at Haydock and Worcester too, but there's also plenty of action to see us through to the evening with Dundalk staging a eight-race quality card, headed by the Group 3 Diamond Stakes. Here are three interesting runners to note . . .

Frosty
5.30 Dundalk

The fact Donnacha O'Brien has been booked to ride Credenza, who has already run twice, suggests she is Ballydoyle's first string, but arguably stablemate and debutante Frosty is a far more interesting prospect.

A sister to Classic heroine and four-time Group 1 winner Winter, the magnificently named Frosty – also frosty in colour – will be of major interest.

Winter won her maiden over this course and distance on her third start, and Frosty could also take some time to come to hand.

Connections clearly think she has ability however, as she boasts an entry in the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket on October 12.

Geological
7.00 Dundalk

For all stylish Group 1 winners do wonders for promoting the sport, much-loved stalwarts such as Geological are a joy to watch week-in, week-out.

Connections purchased the six-year-old for just €800 three years ago, and his earnings have now soared past £120,000.

A four-time course winner for Damian English, Geological rarely runs a bad race, but he looks to have a tough task at the weights, with Lost Treasure looking the most threatening.

Ming
7.30 Dundalk

The Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park isn't a well-trodden path to the Group 3 Diamond Stakes, but nevertheless Ming will be bidding to return to winning ways after his sixth-placed effort in America.

Bidding for a hat-trick after wins at Gowran Park and Navan, Ming was impeded in the straight and arguably deserved to finish much closer to Carrick.

The 106-rated son of Pour Moi faces the British-trained Mootasadir and Global Giant in his bid to break through at Group level, while Michael Halford saddles Kalaxana.
