Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye at Carlisle and Chelmsford

Chelmsford, typically, puts on good prize-money for its seven races tonight and all the action is live on At The Races. You can see Carlisle's card on Racing UK. Here are three horses to note.

Crushed
7.30 Carlisle

Hopes of Crushed developing into a smart juvenile hurdler were dashed earlier in the year and the four-year-old makes his debut for new trainer Mark Walford this evening.

Useful and a two-time winner for William Haggas, Crushed then joined Alan King, who spoke highly of him in the winter, reckoning the gelding to be among his best hurdling youngsters.

He did win once – at Plumpton in May – but failed to fire on his last two starts for King and is back on the Flat tonight for Walford in the same ownership.

8.15 Chelmsford

Horses for courses? There isn't much evidence, but Chocolate Box clearly likes Chelmsford as his only two wins have come there from two visits to the track.

They include this race 12 months ago when he was trained by Luca Cumani. Now with Mark Loughnane, the son of Zoffany was in decent form earlier in the campaign, but has not been at his best on his two most recent runs.

He is also 11lb higher than last season and Loughnane, who moved yards last year, is just starting to work his way back to his fine 2016 campaign.

8.45 Chelmsford

In 2016 and 2017, Christine Dunnett had just two winners, so with four on the board this year, it is safe to say her fortunes have changed.

Kraka, a three-year-old son of Dark Angel, was one of those winners when striking at Yarmouth last month. He followed that up by running creditably at the track recently and has claims from 1lb higher.

He is the mount of weighing room veteran Jimmy Quinn, who is still going strong at the age of 51 and takes on a field including five claiming colleagues.
