Tonight's racing: three runners to note on the all-weather at Newcastle
The Breeders' Cup takes centre stage tonight but Newcastle provides action closer to home. The first race is at 3.30 and here are three runners to note . . .
Friendly Advice
5.00 Newcastle
This two-year-old colt has raced with promise in three starts, including when fourth to subsequent Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf runner-up East at Hamilton last time out, and now makes his all-weather debut.
Keith Dalgleish's runner was not beaten that far on his first two starts and the return to 5f is another plus. With further improvement likely, it's worth keeping an eye on him this evening.
Billy Bond
5.30 Newcastle
Richard Fahey's six-year-old was a course and distance winner in July and returns to the all-weather after an easy success at Ayr last month.
Billy Bond has been raised 6lb for that win but can make another bold bid under Russell Harris.
Wondering Spirit
7.00 Newcastle
Kevin Ryan, fresh from an excellent evening at the Breeders' Cup on Friday, runs Wondering Spirit in the closing 6f novice stakes.
The daughter of Invincible Spirit was a creditable fifth on debut at Pontefract in April and returns having had a wind op. There's every chance she can improve on her first run.
