Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye from Kempton and Dundalk
If the opening day of Cheltenham's International meeting wasn't enough to quench your thirst then there's plenty of evening action to get stuck into. Kempton gets under way at 5.15 on Racing UK, while Dundalk kicks off 15 minutes later. Here are three runners to keep an eye on
Havana Jane
6.15 Kempton
A half-sister to Chester Cup winner Montaly who also ran in these silks, Havana Jane is the most fancied of three newcomers in what looks a winnable maiden stakes.
The filly is also related to Farleigh Mac and Farletti, who both won for Andrew Balding, and she also has a good draw from stall one. As her name suggests, she's by Havana Gold, and you'd expect her to be more precocious than her staying sibling.
Ingelara
7.00 Dundalk
One of two debutantes in the field – the other is Private Jackson at a significantly bigger price – Ingelara is a very interesting proposition.
The daughter of Zoffany wears a tongue strap for her debut run and jockey Alan Persse takes off a handy 7lb.
Most significant though is the flying form of her trainer. Joseph O'Brien has had 13 winners from 60 runners in the past fortnight (a strike-rate of 22 per cent), and anything he fields has to be given a chance.
Denied by a neck when attempting a four-timer at Wolverhampton last time, Shining Armor is a stone well in as his future mark is 14lb higher.
John Ryan's gelding, who made just £16,000 as a two-year-old, ran off 57 when he won at Yarmouth in October and is now rated 95.
Beleaguerment, who won over course and distance on his first start for Archie Watson last time out, is his biggest danger.
