Tonight's action: three interesting runners under the lights at Kempton
As the sun goes down and the lights come up at Kempton, here are three horses of interest on the eight-race twilight card.
Khuzaam
5.15 Kempton
This Investec Derby entrant looked the part on debut at Lingfield last month and ran a race full of promise behind his owner Hamdan Al Maktoum's other runner Dawaam, who was ridden by retained rider Jim Crowley in the first colours.
Khuzaam, who was shorter in the betting than his fellow Sheikh Hamdan-owned horse, might have won if he didn't run wide into the straight and the longer Kempton straight should suit.
The in-form Crowley (four wins from last 11 rides) takes over.
Twist
5.45 Kempton
This half-brother to Group winner Queen Catrine is taking an unconventional route in life, having debuted in a Warwick 1m6f bumper on soft ground 13 days ago.
The winner of that race, L'Incorrigible, is highly regarded by trainer Tom Lacey so being beaten just over 25 lengths having made good progress into the race inside the last half-mile was encouraging.
Dropping back to a mile on the Polytrack could see him in an entirely different light.
First Link
7.15 Kempton
An unraced Juddmonte cast-off, this three-year-old filly has shown promise in three races without looking the most straightforward, but now steps up a furlong in trip and enters handicap company off a mark of 59.
Her trainer Jean-Rene Auvray had his first winner back in the training ranks at Lingfield last week after taking time out to work as a salesman for Martin Collins and his Polytrack company.
