The Chester May meeting has passed but there is still plenty to look forward to with three meetings this evening. Most notably, Chelmsford hosts a seven-race card where prize-money totals more than £115,000.

Jumps action at Wincanton and Tipperary complete the evening entertainment and here are three horses to look out for.

Prince D’Aubrelle
5.30 Tipperary

This eight-year-old gelding returns from two and a half years off the track and must boast plenty of ability for Willie Mullins to persevere with the three-time bumper winner.

The son of Malinas, owned by Allan McLuckie, has form figures of 22111 and makes his belated hurdling debut this evening with David Mullins in the saddle.

It’s Only A Number and Rare Conor appear the main dangers and have the benefit of recent runs, but Prince D’Aubrelle could prove vastly superior.

5.50 Wincanton

Imogen Pickard’s stable star outran odds of 50-1 when a fine staying-on third in a competitive handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last month.

Owned by Margaret Wilson, the versatile six-time winner remains on the same mark of 123 and is fairly treated on past form with Robbie Dunne back on board.

This confined handicap hurdle is a competitive contest but Mister Fizz appears overpriced at double-figure odds and has solid each-way claims.

Elgin
8.40 Chelmsford

There are three races worth £25,000 at Chelmsford this evening but it is the 1m5½f novice stakes that has attracted the most intriguing runner in Unibet Champion Hurdle fifth Elgin.

Alan King’s six-year-old, owned by Elite Racing Club, stayed on strongly to finish third at Wolverhampton in an above-average maiden on his Flat debut last month and was slightly unlucky in running.

That makes him the one to beat this evening and it will be interesting to see how the Greatwood and Kingwell Hurdle winner is campaigned if successful.
