Tonight's action: three horses to keep your eye on
The summer evenings are still wonderfully long and tonight there are two meetings to enjoy, both on the Flat, from Windsor (6.00) and Hamilton (6.15). We pick out three it could pay to follow...
That's My Girl
6.00 Windsor
Qaviy Cash
8.15 Hamilton
Jumping Jack
9.00 Windsor
That’s My Girl (6.00 Windsor)
Sean Levey had an across-the-card hat-trick on Saturday and is back at Windsor, where he was successful last Monday night, for four rides.
The first two are for boss Richard Hannon, including That’s My Girl in the opening 5f juvenile heat for fillies. She will improve for the experience of her debut fifth at Chepstow, as well as the drop back in trip, for a trainer who has a 20 percent strike-rate with his two-year-olds this year.
Qaviy Cash (8.15 Hamilton)
Hugo Palmer has not had a runner at Hamilton in the last five years but does so tonight and could not be going there in better form after seven winners from his last 15 runners.
Qaviy Cash looked a lot better than on his first two tries when beaten a head at Kempton and tonight makes his handicap debut over 1m3f. Assistance in the saddle comes from Josephine Gordon, and she didn’t have a bad weekend either.
Jumping Jack (9.00 Windsor)
There would be no more fittingly named winner of Windsor’s mile handicap, which is sponsored by the Soho jazz club Ronnie Scott’s, than Jumping Jack.
He’s not just got a neat name, though, as the three-year-old is back out six days since winning at Brighton and he has yet to be re-assessed by the handicapper. He has a 6lb penalty, but apprentice Finley Marsh takes off 7lb.
The way Jumping Jack was staying on over seven furlongs suggests tonight’s extra distance should suit, plus his trainer Richard Hughes has been banging in the winners lately.
