A new role of commentator/tipster could be the future on racecourses, with Gay Kelleway among those giving the crowd pointers galore as a string of trainers took their turn behind the microphone at the Rowley Mile on day one of the Newmarket Open Weekend.

Kelleway was one of seven trainers, plus Jockey Club ambassador Stephen Wallis, to commentate on the eight races at the track, and she left punters in no doubt about the chances of My Target before division one of the 7f handicap.

As the 9-2 co-favourite went to post, the Exning trainer revealed to the masses: "I know Michael Wigham expects this horse to run very well."
