Tingle Creek victory puts a smile on faces of Politologue supporters
This weekend it was a case of for the few not the many as Altior's absence from the Tingle Creek left the 11,568 Ten To Follow stables that had selected Nicky Henderson’s star disappointed – but the 810 players who selected Politologue were rewarded with a bumper haul of 54 points.
Allmankind, who won the Henry VIII Novices' Chase on the same card, picked up 29 points for his supporters, while Portrush Ted, who won the Pertemps qualifier, netted 22 points and Greaneteen, who chased home stablemate Politologue, collected 13.6 bonus points for the 1,866 stables in which he features.
Up at Aintree, even fewer benefited when Lake View Lad caused a shock in the Many Clouds Chase. Santini (9,868 stables), Frodon (1,111) and Native River (519) supporters were all let down and, thanks to a Tote dividend of £18.00, the mere 13 lists in which Lake View Lad's name features were boosted to the tune of 41.5 points.
Neither Becher winner Vieux Lion Rouge nor Grand Sefton scorer Beau Bay featured in the competition, but there were 3.1 and 2.3 place points respectively for Kimberlite Candy and Le Breuil.
On Sunday what had promised to be a vintage edition of the John Durkan was won by last year's winner Min and the Willie Mullins-trained nine-year-old bagged his 4,192 supporters 28.2 points in the process.
In the same Rich Ricci colours at Cork, Champion Chase contender Chacun Pour Soi justified restrictive odds when sauntering home in the Hilly Way Chase to pick up 21.1 points for winning the Grade 2 prize.
