Tidal Bay cleans up to put Graham Wylie silks back in the frame
The colours of Andrea and Graham Wylie, which were such regular sights across the racecourses of Britain and Ireland for the first two decades of this century, racking up a high of 59 winners in Britain in the 2008-09 season, are now dominating the Tote Ten To Follow leaderboard.
Six teams bearing the Wylies’ silks and the name of their 2012 Lexus Chase winner Tidal Bay, and two more with their triple World Hurdle winner Inglis Drever, dominate the table.
Top of the heap is the Tidal Bay 014 team, in which all ten stablemates have contributed points with the inclusion of Conflated, who was picked by only 5.9 per cent of players, and State Man, who features in only 12 per cent of squads, making the difference in propelling this team clear of the pack.
Conflated contributed a 54.30-point haul in winning the Savills Chase, a bonus race, while Champion Hurdle hope State Man notched 27.80 points in the Grade 1 Matheson Hurdle.
Bravemansgame brought festive joy to 46.7 per cent of stables in the King George VI Chase at Kempton, picking up 55.35 points, while later on the card Constitution Hill spread the seasonal spirit wider as he breezed to victory in the Christmas Hurdle, earning 27.25 points for 71.9 per cent of stable followers.
At the other end of the scale, there were just 0.1 per cent of stables who gained from Editeur Du Gite’s Desert Orchid Chase win. That made him the top scorer over Christmas with 56.50 points and took him to fourth in the overall list.
