Three to look out for on tonight's cards
Makhfar
6.25 Kempton
Innoko
7.10 Bath
Lazio
7.55 Kempton
There's all-weather action at Kempton this evening, starting at 5.55, while turf fans are in luck as Bath stages a seven-race card with the first race at 6.10. Here are three horses it may pay to follow...
Makhfar 6.25 Kempton
This six-year-old joined Mark Usher from Kevin Morgan before the start of his 2017 campaign and while he may appear to be a model of consistency with form figures of 44212, he has actually been a bit better than that. His RPRs have been on the up and therefore it would be reasonable to think he can keep going that way. He stays Wolverhampton's extended mile well and was a never-nearer fourth on his last run over course and distance, so the slower track conditions could play to his strengths.
Innoko7.10 Bath
A familiar name to most racing fans with 60 runs on the turf, all-weather and over hurdles behind him, Innoko now starts out with Robert Stephens having spent his British career to date with Tony Carroll.
Innoko caught a touch of seconditis in his later days with Carroll, finishing runner-up five times since his last win in May last year. That was from a mark 1lb higher than he runs from here, while Pat Cosgrave takes over in the saddle from apprentice George Dowling. He would not need to derive much benefit from the change of scenery to get back among the winners.
Lazio 7.55 Kempton
In a more drastic trainer change, Lazio has switched from Ireland to Lambourn, moving from John Joseph Murphy to Jamie Osborne. He is unexposed, but the flip side is that he was pulled up lame on his sole run in a handicap last October.
An undoubted plus is his on-point breeding. Lazio is a half-brother to recent Royal Ascot winner Thomas Hobson and his dam is from the family of Oaks winner Talent. Any strength in the betting would be well worth noting.
