Three tips for Saturday - including a horse who has beaten Constitution Hill

Ascot and Wetherby hosts some exciting jumps races to whet the appetite for the winter on Saturday. Our experts have picked out three horses to back in the early markets . . .

Anyharminasking (2.05 Ascot)

There is no doubt Jonjo O'Neill has a well-handicapped horse in the Bateaux London Handicap Hurdle at Ascot in Anyharminasking, who finished last season with two easy wins once switched to handicaps.

In both of those races he swept to the front under a motionless Jonjo O'Neill Jr, never needing to come off the bridle, and both runner-ups went on to win in one of their next two starts.

The fact O'Neill had him entered in the 2m Listed hurdle at Kempton earlier this month, and that he is the only horse to defeat superstar novice Constitution Hill (in his only point-to-point), emphasises there is so much more to come from him.

Lady Adare (2.25 Wetherby)

Any horse that wins three novice hurdles is well above average and Lady Adare can prove that when tackling Listed company for the first time in the bet365 Mares’ Hurdle.

A bumper winner for Micky Hammond, Lady Adare joined Harry Fry for £82,000 in March last year and won easily on all three starts over hurdles.

Lady Adare was as short as 16-1 for the Mares’ Novice Hurdle after her Taunton win in February but didn’t make the Cheltenham Festival. She is fancied to make up for lost time and is the big potential improver in this event.

Monsieur Lecoq (2.40 Ascot)

Beaten a head in this race 12 months ago before being subsequently awarded the contest, Monsieur Lecoq bids to defend his crown off a 2lb lower rating.

He ended last season with a comfortable success from the front at Newbury and will have needed the run when fourth over hurdles at Chepstow this month.

On past exploits he remains extremely well treated and the forecast rain is another big positive for this mud lover. Receiving plenty of weight from his main rivals, he is fancied to lead them a merry dance.
