Three runners to note at Chelmsford and Dundalk tonight
The weekend is almost here and if you're in the mood for some floodlit all-weather action then a double dose from Chelmsford and Dundalk should see you right. Here are three runners worth noting.
Given the form of the Kevin Ryan yard, his runners need paying attention to, and handicap debutant Finisher is certainly worth a second look.
He has made steady, rather then spectacular progress in three previous starts, but an opening mark of 68 is not insurmountable and he may well be capable of better.
On his two starts last year Lord Vetinari displayed ability, and the step up to 7f from 6f should help judged on his pedigree.
Trainer Andrew Balding does well with his three-year-olds at the track with a 27 per cent strike-rate (14 from 52) for the last five seasons.
Ancient Sands loves his trips to Dundalk, with an impressive record of four wins and two seconds from six previous starts.
The ten-year-old does need a career-best on the Flat off a mark of 87, but the booking of champion jockey Colin Keane augurs well.
