Three interesting horses to watch under lights at Newcastle tonight
After an afternoon of jumps racing from Wetherby and Clonmel, Newcastle stages the evening action on the all-weather. The seven-race card will be shown on At The Races with the first race starting at 5.35. Here are three runners to note
Dubawi Fifty
5.35
Dubawi Fifty seeks a third win in a row this year for trainer Karen McLintock and, with Joe Fanning on board, is expected to line up as a warm favourite for Newcastle's opener. Twice a winner here, the son of Dubawi relishes the Tapeta track and is likely to be aimed at major staying handicaps if all goes well.
Velvet Vision
6.05
A 66-1 second on her debut over a mile here last month, the daughter of Nathaniel should relish the step up to 1m2f given her pedigree. Herdam was a winner over 1m4f so stamina is unlikely to be an issue at this new trip and it will be fascinating to see how the Mark Tompkins-trained three-year-old has progressed from her debut.
Taifbalady
7.45
A regally bred son of Dark Angel, this three-year-old has yet to show any form in three starts but makes his all-weather debut for Mark Johnston and could do better. Last seen finishing 11th behind Poets Dream at Thirsk last September, Taifbalady has since been gelded and it will be interesting to see whether that has a positive impact.
