The action has come thick and fast this afternoon and there is plenty of evening entertainment with all-weather meetings at Chelmsford (first race 4.50) and Newcastle (5.15). Here are three horses to note . . .

Guardiola 4.50 Chelmsford

Bookmakers could take a peppering in the opener at Chelmsford with Manchester City fans, fresh from celebrating a 3-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk, likely to back the Michael Bell-trained Guardiola.

The low-level handicapper, owned by Sheikh Marwan Al Maktoum, has been placed in three of his five runs in handicaps and attempts an all-important win before a date at the sales next week.

Liberisque, runner-up on her last three starts, and the consistent Townie Mac are other likely challengers in this 1m2f handicap.

Ideological 7.45 Newcastle

Roger Varian has a 35 per cent strike-rate on the all-weather at Newcastle this year and sends debutant scorer Ideological to Gosforth Park this evening.

Jack Mitchell’s mount won going away at Kempton last month and looked a smart prospect.

The Tactful Finance-owned daughter of Dawn Approach is the one to beat in this 1m novice auction stakes with the similarly unbeatenTrolius, trained by SimonCrisford, appearing the obvious danger.

Raincall 8.45 Newcastle

Henry Candy's Raincall was a promising fourth on debut at Kempton last month and can go close on her second start.

Owned and bred by Rockcliffe Stud, Raincall has to turn the form around with reopposing rival Ring Dancer but could find significant improvement from her first start.

Stealth Fighter is a danger on form, while Roger Charlton has saddled four winners and two thirds from seven runners on the Tapeta at Newcastle and runs newcomer Be Thankful.
