Three horses to look out for at the weekend
Skiffle (Newmarket 2.40)
The lightly raced Skiffle will be looking to put a line through her disappointing return in June and bounce back to form in the Listed Betbright Aphrodite Stakes. Charlie Appleby was the trainer to follow at Newmarket's July festival and will be hoping to carry this form into the weekend.
Skiffle finished fifth in the Oaks last season and only Diamonds Pour Moi is rated higher among her rivals. William Buick again takes the ride and the drop in grade should result in some improvement.
Koropick (Newbury 3.00)
Josephine Gordon is reunited with Koropick, the horse with whom she scored a first Group winner last time out at Newcastle. The Chipchase victory followed a promising second behind new sprinter on the block Battaash, and another positive showing this weekend will further enhance Battaash’s growing reputation.
Hugo Palmer’s colt carries a 3lb penalty for his victory at Newcastle, but still holds the advantage over the majority of the field thanks to the three-year-old allowance.
Amabilis (Newbury 4.45)
The step up to a mile suited Ralph Beckett’s progressive filly first time out this season and suggested there's more improvement to come. She had a promising juvenile campaign and, now officially rated 94, Saturday will indicate if she is up to Group level.
Ryan Moore is booked to take the ride and, despite the form of her Chelmsford win remaining patchy, she will have plenty of support.
