Three horses to look out for across tonight's meetings
6.40 Bath
Wouldn’t you just love to be involved with this veteran sprinter? Owner Sarah Hoyland is one lucky lady.
David Loughnane’s versatile ten-year-old, a 15-time winner from 85 starts, provided apprentice Laura Coughlan with a memorable day when winning at Lingfield a week ago. He has been busy since and was unlucky in running at Salisbury four days later.
Ease in the ground suits the likeable son of Pivotal and, although this is a marked rise in grade, it would be no surprise to see Seamster run a big race off a low weight.
Paddy The Celeb
7.20 Tramore
There is also a likeable veteran at Tramore with Mick Halford’s Paddy The Celeb bidding for back-to-back triumphs in the two-mile handicap.
The Paul McMahon-owned 11-year-old won the race off a 2lb higher mark last year and caught the eye when running well in the Amateur Riders Derby at the Curragh last month.
Shane Foley, successful aboard Paddy The Celeb last year, is back on board and bids for a hat-trick in the race after scoring on Hazariban in 2015.
1.30am Del Mar
It is make or break time for the world’s highest-rated racehorse, who bids to bounce back from a defeat at odds of 1-20 on his return. If that’s not worth staying up for, what is?
This year’s Dubai World Cup winner was beaten over 15 lengths when fourth of five in the San Diego Handicap at Del Mar last month, but surely it was too bad to be a true reflection of the horse’s retained ability.
Despite his shock defeat, he is a worthy odds-on favourite for this $1 million event, won last year by California Chrome, who was defeated by Arrogate in a memorable clash in the Breeders’ Cup Classic last November.
