Three horses to keep an eye on tonight
Three meetings this evening with Gowran Park (6.00, ATR) and Chepstow (6.10, ATR) on the Flat before Stratford (6.20) welcomes Racing UK cameras and the channel's formidable experts for the first time since switching media horses after 13 years with ATR. Here are three interesting runners to watch tonight
Breath Caught
6.10 Chepstow
Elegant Pose
7.30 Gowran Park
Moabit
9.10 Chepstow
Breath Caught
6.10 Chepstow
Khalid Abdullah has plenty invested in this interesting debutant representing top performers at the course. Breath Caught is half-brother to Twice Over, who won the 2010 Coral-Eclipse among four Group 1 strikes that helped earn his owner breeder Khalid Abdullah £2.5m in prize-money. His home-bred colt is set to go off favourite to improve the stats of his trainer Ralph Beckett (30 per cent) and rider Pat Dobbs (25 per cent) at the track.
Elegant Pose
7.30 Gowran Park
Another of the evening's well-related runners but this Elusive Pimpernel filly is already a winner. Elegant Pose is a half-sister to Brendan Brackan, who won this year's Irish Lincoln at the age of eight – four years on from a Galway Festival win and a Group 3 success. Elegant Pose made a winning debut at the Curragh in May over a mile and, while that form has so far turned out to be weak, she overcame trouble in running to finish strongly, suggesting this step up in trip will suit.
The most interesting runner of the evening is saved to last as Paul Nicholls, dabbling in Flat racing this year with two winners from six runners, gives useful hurdler Moabit a go under top weight with his daughter Megan taking off a valuable 5lb in this 2m handicap. Moabit ran up a sequence of four wins over hurdles last summer before finding the Listed Summer Hurdle at Market Rasen just too hot. The five-year-old is rated 133 over hurdles, hasn't taken to fences in his last two runs and returns to the Flat off an eyecatching mark of 75 having won over 1m7f at Deauville as a three-year-old when trained by Eric Libaud in France.
