Musselburgh horsebox suspect apprehended
Police arrested a man who is suspected of stealing from Musselburgh horseboxes after he tried to make a getaway across the racecourse on Friday.
Valuables have been disappearing for more than a year from unattended boxes during racing.
"The thief has been getting away with it for a long time," said racecourse chief executive Bill Farnsworth.
"We managed to get him when one of the members of Karl Burke's team went back to their horsebox and found him there. The police gave chase and caught him at the other side of course.
"The thief has helped himself to wallets, money, computers, phone and anything of value he could find in the horseboxes. He seems to have worked out which horseboxes would be left empty during racing and targeted them."
