There is a temptation to think Early Doors is not the horse he once was, that his big day was at Cheltenham back in 2019 when he won the Martin Pipe, but perhaps the Galway Plate has been in Joseph O'Brien's mind ever since his chasing debut over the same course and distance at last year's Galway festival.

He made the odd error there, but looked a natural over his fences in the main, and just ran out of steam on his first start for 139 days.

Since then he's been beaten at 9-4, 7-2 and 5-1 in beginners chases but one of those was against Allaho and he now finds himself with a chasing mark of just 139.
