The pro leads 2-1 - but can the punters draw level on the all-weather?
Introducing Punter v the Pro, our new tipping competition in which Racing Post readers go head-to-head with top tipster Graeme Rodway.
The format is simple: the punter and the pro both give six Saturday selections in ITV races decided by us and whoever comes out on top based on level-stakes profit to SP is the winner. The prize? Sheer pride!
The results will be shared every Sunday in , our free daily newsletter.
The punter . . .
Name: Harry Philips
Occupation: Investment analyst specialising in industrial companies
Flat or jumps? Flat (just)
Favourite horse: Kybo (Josh Gifford) and Provideo (Bill O'Gorman) when I was younger. Also Commanche Falls, proper horse, proper trainer and proper jockey.
Favourite course: Epsom on the Flat and Plumpton over jumps.
Biggest win: Geometrical at Huntingdon in October. I own a share in him and he's trained by a master in Toby Lawes. I was so insulted for the horse when he opened at 28-1 – I won more than £4,000.
Unluckiest loser: Tarlo at Lingfield on the Thursday evening of Royal Ascot week. It would have been an Andrea Atzeni 3,308-1 Canadian.
. . . and the pro
Graeme Rodway is one of the longest-serving members of the Racing Post's tipping and analysis team.
A two-time top-three finisher in the Flat version of the national naps competition under the pseudonym 'The Edge', G-Rod has a proven record of tipping success over a period of more than ten years and now specialises in hurdles races over jumps and staying races on the Flat.
The picks
Harry:Mick's Spirit
He has won off this mark, is drawn okay and trainer Conrad Allen is in solid form.
Graeme:The Defiant
Three-time course-and-distance winner who has some solid form at this course and looks on his way back to form on his third run after a short break.
Harry:Dazzerling
Looks unexposed compared to many of these and is racing over 6f at Lingfield for the first time, which will hopefully suit.
Graeme:Lothian
Dropping in the weights and shaped like he could soon cash in when second at Kempton last time. The return to this track should suit.
Harry:Cable Mountain
He is upped in distance to 1m4f here and comes from a stable in form.
Graeme:Capricorn Prince
Loves this track and had a subsequent winner back in fourth when second here last month. It's worth giving him another chance after a poor run last time when he suffered interference.
Harry:Sweet Fantasy
Can turn the tables on Tahasun, who came out on top when they met two starts back.
Graeme:Viola
Drops in class after a good run in Listed company at this course last time and might be suited by this 1m2f trip. She hasn't looked short of speed over further recently.
Harry:Amazing Amaya
I fancy Amazing Amaya back over 6f, and she's won here before.
Graeme:Jems Bond
Back to his last winning mark and ran well when a close fifth at Newcastle in October, and could bounce back from a couple of disappointing runs.
Harry:Algiers
Rock-solid and cannot see Harrovian, Forest Of Dean and Tyson Fury turning the tables.
Graeme:Algiers
Unlucky to get caught on the line after going clear over course and distance last time and can gain compensation by going one better if given a more conservative ride.
