The key factors that make superstar mare Enable so hard to beat
Two Arc victories among ten consecutive wins demonstrates the dominance of Enable over the past three seasons, but just what is it that sets her apart from the rest? Here are the key factors that make her so hard to beat.
Speed
Enable may race over middle distances but she does not lack speed, evidenced by her recording the fastest winning time in the history of the Investec Oaks in 2min 34.13sec on good ground at Epsom in 2017.
Taghrooda, winner of the same race in 2014 and similarly trained by John Gosden, is the only filly to have come within a second of Enable’s winning time since the turn of the millennium, during which 12 runnings have been run on the same going description of good and one on good to firm.
