'The history book comes with a few warnings' - Dettori's Derby career in numbers
English King will be Frankie Dettori's 25th ride in the Derby, with the 49-year-old only missing four since his first ride in the race in 1992.
Dettori will be seeking his third win in the Derby and English King's market position as the current favourite bodes well, as his two previous winners in the race – Authorized (2007) and Golden Horn (2015) – were both sent off favourite on the day at 5-4 and 13-8 respectively.
He does not have a perfect record on Derby favourites though, as Cracksman (7-2) could finish only third in 2017, while smart mare Cape Verdi (11-4) was ninth in 1998, the same position as the brilliant Dubai Millennium (5-1) a year later. Snow Ridge was a joint-favourite (7-2) in 2004 and finished seventh.
