Talks under way for on-course bookmakers to return at Glorious Goodwood

On-course bookmakers are in talks about returning to racecourses under proposals to allow 5,000 spectators to attend one day of Glorious Goodwood.

The number of people attending race meetings in Britain has been strictly limited since the sport's resumption, but owners were recently allowed back and it emerged over the weekend Goodwood is eager for a 5,000-person trial during its Glorious meeting later this month.

Sport in Britain has taken place behind closed doors since it returned and reintroducing racegoers – subject to government approval – is regarded as a major step forward and one that should allow on-course bookmakers, absent since March, to attend.
