Take advantage of quick transfers to gain a pre-festival advantage over rivals

The clock is ticking to make changes to your Tote Ten To Follow teams with the transfer window slamming shut at 5pm on Monday.

Each stable has two changes available, so what tactics should players adopt even if they are happy with their original ten horses? One answer would be to take advantage of racing before Monday to notch a few cheeky points.

A player could introduce to their stable one of the runners from the Ten To Follow list in action on Sunday in Ireland. After the race that horse can then be transferred out again in favour of one more likely to land Cheltenham bonus points. You could even bring back the original selection.

Sunday’s Leinster National at Naas has a trio of potential points scorers in Chef Des Obeaux, Dounikos and General Principle. All three also hold entries in the Grand National in April, so a win this weekend would leave owners with a decision: leave them in and target Aintree bonus points, or switch to a Cheltenham Festival candidate?

Another Aintree candidate in Anibale Fly is entered at Naas on Sunday, with a spin over hurdles the potential catalyst for an upturn in form.

Earlier on the card Royal Rendezvous and Dallas Des Pictons meet in the Grade 3 Naas Directors Plate Novice Chase. There will be 15 points, plus Tote returns, on offer to give a quickfire boost to stables looking to switch one of their horses pre-Cheltenham.

In Britain, Jamie Snowden’s Hogan's Height and Harry Whittington’s Young Bull could pick up points at Warwick on Sunday.

However players choose to use their Ten To Follow transfers it is key to get the most from the two changes available. So even if a stable looks fully stocked with Cheltenham hopefuls there are ways to get one up on your rivals and score extra pre-festival points.
