Syndicate chair backs licensing of bloodstock agents despite industry concerns

The chairman of the Racehorse Syndicates Association (RSA) has added his support to calls for a licensing system for bloodstock agents and said the buying and selling of injured horses must be made more transparent.

Dan Abraham, who runs Foxtrot Racing, was responding to Lee Mottershead's column in the Racing Post on Monday, which argued a new licensing system was "essential" to protect the reputation of legitimate agents.

It followed the allegation that one agent, Gary Woods, had withheld the news a syndicate's horse had suffered a fatal injury in training until its owners had sent him thousands of pounds in training fees.
