On one of the hottest days Britain has ever basked under, going for a run would be the last thing on most people's agenda. That is unless your name is Tom Marquand.

For good measure the smiley rider is decked out in hoodie and full waterproof tracksuit, although it's clearly not working as he's dripping wet after running close to two circuits of the track in 32C heat at 1pm.

"I didn't have time for a run this morning," he says, his skin giving off more water than a fountain but his face grinning all the same.
