Stellar entry for hugely valuable Arabian Group 1 contest at Glorious Goodwood
Qatar International Stakes takes place on the Wednesday of Goodwood week
A high-class list of entries has been unveiled by the Arabian Racing Organisation for the Group 1 Qatar International Stakes on July 31, which is part of Glorious Goodwood.
They include ten individual Group 1 Purebred Arabian winners, notably the last two winners of the race, Muraaqib and Tayf, as well as Ebraz, who was runner-up on both occasions.
Also entered is this year’s French Derby winner Hayyan, as well as Rodess Du Loup, who won both the French Derby and English Derby last year.
There are a further nine horses entered among a total of 23 who are either Pattern winners or have been placed in Pattern races.
The overall prize fund for the Qatar International Stakes is £400,000, meaning the Goodwood Cup, Sussex Stakes and Nassau are the only races at the five-day festival worth more than the Arabian contest.
The supplementary entry stage is on July 23, with declarations on July 29. The race will be the seventh staged on an eight-race card.
Genny Haynes, ARO commercial and finance director, said: "Every year the quality of entries for this race exceeds our expectations. We are delighted that it continues to attract a combination of exciting young horses just starting to make their mark on the international scene, as well as established champions."
She added: "It is an honour for ARO to stage international Arabian racing at this level. The addition of this race at such a prestigious event in the UK racing calendar is a huge boost to the profile of the sport, both domestically and worldwide."
