Karl Burke says the effects of a long season caught up with Quiet Reflection on Champions day and is already looking forward to 2017 for the dual Group 1 winner.

The trainer refuses to blame the ground for the fact his three-year-old filly, who had earlier landed the Commonwealth Cup and 32Red Sprint Cup on a soft surface, could manage only seventh behind The Tin Man in the Qipco British Champions Stakes at Ascot.

Quiet Reflection's 2016 campaign began with victory in a Group 3 event at Chantilly in April and her trainer reflected: "She looked great on Saturday and she got the best turned out, she travelled well but she just didn't quicken like her usual self.
