The growth of 32Red as a sponsor whose race portfolio embraces not simply quantity but also quality was underlined yesterday when the online bookmaker was announced as the new backer of Haydock's Sprint Cup, with a potentially even bigger partnership in the melting pot.

Just two weeks after John Baker, north-west regional director for Jockey Club Racecourses, conceded a replacement for the Sprint Cup's now vetoed sponsor Betfred was unlikely to be found in time for this year's race on Saturday week, came the unveiling of a three-year arrangement with 32Red.
