Haydock given green light for Wednesday's card after 'dramatic change overnight'
Haydock’s meeting on Wednesday has been given the all-clear without the need for an inspection that had been scheduled for 2pm on Tuesday afternoon.
With the ground frozen on Monday, clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright had been prepared to give the meeting every possible chance with multiple inspections on Tuesday but revealed that would not be necessary after a significant change in conditions overnight.
He said on Tuesday morning: "There's been a dramatic change overnight. We've woken up to mild weather, and the frost and snow have gone. There's no point delaying it, so we've passed it fit to race and are looking forward to tomorrow."
The six-race card is headlined by the Jewson Altrincham Veterans' Handicap Chase (2.50), which features last season’s Many Clouds Chase winner Lake View Lad and former Ryanair runner-up Aso for the in-form Venetia Williams team.
Earlier, Southwell passed a morning inspection and Tuesday's seven-race card went ahead as planned.
