Chepstow to race on Wednesday after thaw arrives in time

There was good news from Chepstow on Tuesday morning as it was confirmed that racing would go ahead on Wednesday.

Snow on the course had prompted officials to call an inspection for 8.30am but the thaw arrived early and racing was given the green light.

A tweet from the Chepstow account said: "Racing definitely goes ahead tomorrow. Inspection brought forward and passed. All snow clear. Going heavy."

Chepstow has burst pipes in the main grandstand following 30cm of snow earlier in the month and executive director Phil Bell said: "We will be providing replacement facilities for racegoers.

"These include two large luxury heated marquees - one for Silks Restaurant guests and one for general admission customers. The Grandstand hospitality suites are not affected."

Tuesday's meeting at Wetherby has been given the green light after a midday inspection on Monday, but Exeter's meeting has been claimed by the snow.

Meetings rescheduled

Limerick's cancelled meeting on Sunday has been rescheduled to Wednesday, with declarations from the original entries made at 10am on Tuesday. Entry is free to all racegoers.

Navan's abandoned meeting on Sunday, which was set to include the Grade 2 Toals.com Bookmakers Webster Cup Chase, will now be staged on Friday, although the Grade 3 Flyingbolt Novice Chase has been omitted from the card.
