'Someone's got to make a stand for the greater good' - Goldie on Portland appeal

Jim Goldie thinks he has little chance of being awarded last month's Portland, but hopes his bid to question the stewards' decision can help make a difference to the sport on a wider level.

Goldie's Call Me Ginger finished a half-length second in the sprint handicap to Chipstead, whose rider Frederick Larson was cautioned for careless riding as, according to stewards, "he failed to take sufficient and timely steps to correct his mount from drifting left".

That, officials added, caused Amie Waugh to switch the running-on Call Me Ginger right to continue their challenge.
