Those looking for Venetia Williams to begin her season in earnest may have to show a little more patience as the trainer continues to wait for rain to materialise.

Although never heavily represented in the summer or autumn, Williams has not had a single runner in September or October.

Although she has made entries next week, including at Hereford on Monday, a trainer famed for her success on soft and heavy ground may play the cautious card for a little while longer, having swerved Saturday's Ascot card on which she has enjoyed notable victories in the last three seasons, including a treble in 2013.
