Soffia has left Eddie Lynam’s stable famous for producing sprinting stars and she won’t be coming back, as a date with Frankel is next on her agenda rather than burning up the gallops.

Seven-time winner Soffia showed remarkable improvement as a four-year-old last season, winning her first Listed race followed by wins in Group 3 and Group 2 company before ending the campaign with a rating of 115.

Soffia carried the colours of Lady O'Reilly, who bought her off Lynam's daughter Amy as a yearling, although it's understood she will spend her days in the paddock for new connections.

Lynam, who is now concentrating on finding his next sprinting star, describes Soffia as one of the best fillies he's ever trained.

He said: "She was a very good filly and was the first foal Amy ever bought. We ended up buying her off Amy as a yearling and we knew she had ability and that she was useful as a two-year-old."

Lynam added: “She progressed into a very good three-year-old and ended up being a high-class four-year-old. She has gone to stud now and will be sadly missed.

“She ended the season with a rating of 115 and was one of the best, arguably the best filly I ever trained. My understanding is she's going to visit Frankel.”

Looking ahead to the future, Lynam said: “You're always dreaming in this game and good horses are what you badly need. We have been thin on the ground for a few years, with the exception of Soffia, but hopefully we can find a good one in the near future.

“We had some good fillies in the past – Viztoria, Agnes Steward, Anthem Alexander and Fort Del Oro – so hopefully we can hit on another. If we could hit on one as good as Sole Power or Slade Power we'd be over the moon.”
