Details peripheral to traditional television programming, including monetised output on social media, are thought to represent the final stumbling blocks to agreeing a new deal between ITV and Britain's racecourses.

With ITV now inside the final year of its current contract, the Racing Post understands those negotiating on behalf of the top tracks continue to be focused on extending a partnership with ITV that has resulted in a significant growth in audiences.

Twelve months on from the point that an increasingly frustrated ITV had hoped to announce a renewal, there are hopes a three-year agreement could still be signed by the end of this month.
