The subsequent Gold Cup winner had a disappointing season in 2014 and finished last of ten runners when tested in the Shergar Cup.

His 2015 season was far more successful, however, as he won the Chester Cup and the Gold Cup before going on to finish a fine second in the Caulfield Cup and fourth in the Melbourne Cup when sent to Australia.

Parlour Games

How did he do at the Shergar Cup? Won the Shergar Cup Classic in 2011
What did he go on to do? Grade 1 Challow Novices' Hurdle in 2014

Once owned by Godolphin, Parlour Games enjoyed a three-quarters-of-a-length success in the 2011 Shergar Cup Classic.

And seven races, three years, three trainers and a gelding operation later, he made a winning hurdles debut at Huntingdon. He would go on to land Cheltenham's Hyde Novices' Hurdle by four and a half lengths before registering his biggest win in the Grade 1 Challow Novices' Hurdle, beating Blaklion as well as 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Native River.

He subsequently finished second at the Cheltenham and Aintree festivals before retiring after having one crack at chasing.

Move In Time
How did he do at the Shergar Cup?: Second in the Dash in 2014.
Career Highlight: Prix de l'Abbaye in 2014.
Prize Money: £469,550

The only horse on the list to win a Pattern race in the same year he competed in the Shergar Cup, Move In Time was beaten a head in the five furlong dash.

He competed twice after, finishing second on both occasions, before claiming a shock 25-1 win in the Prix de l'Abbaye under Daniel Tudhope. The 11-year-old has since enjoyed a long and successful career, competing in 79 races and winning as recently as Wednesday at Pontefract.

Goldream
How did he do at the Shergar Cup? Won the Dash in 2014.
Career Highlight: King's Stand Stakes in 2015.
Prize Money: £592,385

Goldream managed to establish himself as one of the best sprinters of the following year after defeating Move In Time in a vintage renewal of the Dash in 2014.

Goldream: a two-time Group 1 winner

His first Group success came in the Palace House at Newmarket, before striking at Royal Ascot in the King's Stand Stakes. He would land a second top-level prize when emulating Move In Time by winning the Prix de l'Abbaye.

Trade Storm
How did he do in the Shergar Cup?: Second in the Shergar Cup Mile in 2012.
Career Highlight: Woodbine Mile in 2014.
Prize Money: £1,052,241

Beaten a neck in the 2012 Shergar Cup Mile, Trade Storm is the only to feature on this list to break the million pound mark, thanks largely to his international exploits.

Trade Storm would go on make his presence felt around the world taking the Group 2 Zabeel Mile in Dubai and winning the 2014 renewal of the $1m Woodbine Mile. Following that, he finished third in the Breeders' Cup Mile and second in the Group 1 Jebel Hatta.
