Hissa Hamdan Al Maktoum begins life as an owner with one of the best-bred fillies in training when Mubhirah, a Raven's Pass half-sister to her father's brilliant Oaks and King George winner Taghrooda, makes her debut in a maiden fillies' race at Nottingham on Wednesday.

The Sheikha has a second runner only hours later when Shaaqaaf, a 200,000gns filly by Sepoy and also a two-year-old, runs in a similar race at Kempton.

The fillies, both trained by John Gosden, are the first to see the racecourse of four who are understood to have been given as yearlings by Sheikh Hamdan to his daughter – an accomplished horsewoman who has recently chronicled her journey with horses in a book titled Tajaarub.
