Sheema Classic next for beaten Arc favourite

Postponed will not bid for redemption this season following defeat in Sunday’s Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, with connections ruling out a possible trip to the US for the Breeders' Cup next month.

But he will be back as a six-year-old, after trainer Roger Varian confirmed the earlier wish of owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum to defend his Dubai Sheema Classic in March remains the plan.

Varian gave the four-time Group 1 winner a clean bill of health yesterday after his defeat as the 15-8 favourite at Chantilly, where he faded to fifth having raced prominently into the home straight.
