Seventh heaven! Andrew Balding enjoys remarkable across-the-card seven-timer
Andrew Balding enjoyed a brilliant day with seven winners across Friday's card and one in all four meetings staged in Britain.
The Park House Stables-based trainer enjoyed three victories at Chester with Intransigent and Twin Star securing their first victory of the season and Indomitable breaking his maiden at the third time of asking at the Cheshire track.
At Salisbury Foxtrot Lady and Silver Swift were victorious, while Absolutely So was a convincing winner at Sandown.
Balding said: "It's been a really good day, I am absolutely delighted with it to have seven winners is an outstanding achievement for the team.
"It's always nice having winners, there's been days where we have had five winners – with the work we put in to have days like today are very rewarding."
"Seeing older horses like Intransigent and Absolutely So is extra special and Dancing Star thoroughly deserved to win a good race too.
"To have three of the winners owned by Jeff Smith [Dancing Star, Indomitable, Foxtrot Lady] is just fantastic. He's been with me from the very start and with my Dad before that. It's been a brilliant day."
Balding sent out five other runners on Friday's card and sends six to the races on Saturday by far his most noteworthy runner is Maid Up, an impressive Group 3 winner last time, who is a 20-1 chance for the St Leger.
The Berkshire-based trainer said of Maid Up: "Her winning would make it perfect but I'd be delighted if she could run into a place. She's in good form and she wears her heart on a sleeve and hopefully she'll do her best."
